Artful Afternoon Tea

Enjoy a cup of tea, an artful snack, a tour of the RSTW exhibition, and an opportunity to make a work of art inspired by the art you’ve just seen in RSTW.

Workshop for Adults - Archisculpture

Wednesday 12th January 2011, 16:30 - 18:30, Manarat Al Saadiyat

Inspired by the sculptural works of Richard Serra, explore building aculpture in the round. Learn about the sculptural properties of a range of simple materials while developing ideas through a series of drawing and building exercises, to arrive to a finished sculpture. Led by specialist art practitioners, the workshop includes a tour of the RSTW exhibition. (Ages 18 and above)

Children´s Workshop - Lost and Found: Art from Found Objects

Monday 17th January 2011, 17:00 - 18:00, Manarat Al Saadiyat

Create an artwork inspired by your own found object! The found object provides a limitless exploration of artistic ideas. The use of everyday found objects are evident in a selection of works in the RSTW exhibition, by artists such as Andy Warhol and Robert Rauschenberg. Participants will create an artwork inspired by their found object while exploring the mediums of sculpture and drawing. Led by specialist art practitioners, the workshop includes a tour of the RSTW exhibition and an opportunity to find your own found object. (Ages 6 to 11)

Workshop for Adults - From Image to Word: Text Paintings

Wednesday 19th January 2011, 11:00 - 13:00, Manarat Al Saadiyat

Often seen as social comments or blurring the line between writing and painting, Word Art offers a range of possibilities. Experiment with painting techniques and processes to produce a personal and original artwork based on the use of text. (Ages 18 and above)

Workshop for Teens - Make a Statement: Text Paintings

Wednesday 22nd January 2011, 16:00 - 18:00, Manarat Al Saadiyat

Often seen as social comments or blurring the line between writing and painting, Word Art offers a range of possibilities. Experiment with painting techniques and processes to produce a personal and original artwork based on the use of text. Led by specialist art practitioners, the workshop includes a tour of the RSTW exhibition. (Ages 12 to 17)
