A series of special workshops for all ages complemented A Story of Islamic Embroidery exhibition during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Repeating Patterns (Children’s Workshop, ages 6-11)
When: August 18, 21, 22 & 23 at 11am to 1pm
Have fun making wonderful patterns inspired by the highly popular A Story of Islamic Embroidery Exhibition at Emirates Palace. Compose your own exciting and interesting designs, experimenting with stencils and printing blocks featuring details of the outstanding pieces displayed in the exhibition. Decorate your art work using drawing, painting and collage. Children’s Workshops are delivered by specialist art tutors in the creative environment of the Gallery One Education Room.
Create your own Designs (Teenage Workshop, ages 12-17)
When: August 25, 28, 29 & 30 at 11am to 1pm
Inspired by the highly popular A Story of Islamic Embroidery Exhibition in Gallery One, Emirates Palace, TDIC is delivering a series of enlightening, enjoyable and engaging workshops on pattern and design. Teenage Workshops will run for four two-hour sessions on August 25, 28, 29 & 30. Through a series of design techniques and processes create personal and original design, using drawing, painting and printing mediums to enhance your art work. Working in the relaxed and creative environment of the Gallery One Education Room at Emirates Palace, the workshops are delivered by specialist art tutors. Open to teenagers of all abilities, three two-hour sessions will be needed to fully complete your designs.
Pattern & Design (Family Workshops)
When: August 15, 18, 22, 25, 29 & September 1 & 5 at 8:30pm to 10:30pm
During the Holy Month of Ramadan, TDIC is delivering Family Workshops inspired by the popular A Story of Islamic Embroidery exhibition at Gallery One, Emirates Palace. A range of enlightening, enjoyable and fun art activities will be offered to cater to the whole family. Explore pattern making, design and decoration informed by select works from the exhibition. Family workshops are delivered by specialist art tutors in the creative and relaxed environment of the Gallery One Education Room.
Create your own Ilgich Wall Hanging (Adult Workshop, Ages 18+)
When: September 1, 4, 5, and 6 at 11am to 1pm
An Ilgich is a meaningful and personal decorative wall hanging, incorporating highly abstracted forms from nature, dynamic line and contrasting colour. TDIC is presenting a series of enjoyable, enlightening and educational practical adult workshops on September 1, 4, 5 & 6. As an alternative to using textiles Ilgich wall hangings will be made on quality paper. Through drawing, painting and printing decorate your Ilgiich with personal and original designs, developed through a range of pattern exercises. Working in the relaxed and creative environment of the Gallery One Education Room at Emirates Palace the workshops are delivered by specialist art tutors. Open to adults of all abilities, participation to three two- hour sessions will be needed to fully complete your Ilgich.
